Farm Worker Justice

The Creation and Influence of the U.F.W.

The U.F.W. (United Farm Workers) is an organization that focuses on promoting, fixing and enforcing the rights of farm workers. This organization was created by Cesar Chavez as one of his larger strides towards the change of farm working life. The creation of this organization was so huge because it saved so many families from the farm working situations they were suffering in. The U.F.W. promoted the well-being and correct treatment of these families so that they could live normal lives, even if they decided to continue working at the farms. Another amazing step they made was making sure that the farm owners were giving the workers their fair compesation for their hard work. Before this the farm workers were payed very small amounts of payment so that they could not save up enough money to leave the farm and work elsewhere. With the money they were now gaining farm workers everywhere were saved up and ran from the farms, never looking back. The U.F.W. went on a huge Grape Strike with many supporters and took down many farm owners who were mistreating their workers. The U.F.W. also got many reports about terrible situations that they had not yet fixed and the U.F.W. reported these situations to the authorities so together the government, the police, and the U.F.W. could all work together to make sure the problem was fixed.
